Population Education Dr. Isele provides resources for teachers who explore global population patterns, climate change, and yes—even pandemics. Population Education.org starts with a world and US population clock students will find fascinating. The resource has opportunities for students of all levels.
Creating Exciting Social Studies Timelines Dr. Isele ties the NCSS themes of continuity and change to the creation of timelines. Students explore both historical topics in which they are interested and personalized timelines of their own histories.
Social Studies Field Trips Acknowledging the limitations put on our educational experiences by the global pandemic, this discussion looks to the future when we are able, once again, to explore spaces outside our classrooms.
The Choices Program Used by thousands of teachers across the country, the Choices program comes from our colleagues at the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University. With curriculum stressing student exploration of multiple perspectives, the Choices program dives into international issues. The curriculum is well-suited for addressing the Inquiry Arc of the National Council for the Social Studies C3 standards and the Illinois Learning Standards in Social Studies.
Illinois Mandated Units of Study Analysis With changing mandates and standards, we bring back this analysis activity for professionals and for students. In this professional exercise, we provide you with a mandated units of study guidance document and questions for analysis of those units of study.
